• Hand-stitched in Bangladesh from six layers of vintage sari cloth
• Made by women in a vulnerable, high risk situation or in recovery from sexual oppression.
• One (or two) of a kind. Each blanket is totally unique!
Kantha (meaning "patched cloth") is a tradition and a craft. We use kantha to refer to the small, straight, running stitch that quilts our sari-cloth blankets together.
The tradition of kantha, originated in the Bengal region of eastern South Asia, captures a long history of making something useful & beautiful out of discarded cloth.
All our products are made by vulnerable & at-risk women in Bangladesh, including survivors of trafficking & exploitation.
Our production partner, Basha, is a generous, safe, kind- & whole-hearted business that employs these women in dignified, sustainable work.
I absolutely love everything about these blankets. From the mission, to the appearance, the soft subtle texture of the cloth... simply fantastic.

I am a repeat customer. New kantha day is the best day.
My husband and I are currently becoming re-certified for foster parenting... and one of the first things I purchased was a mini kantha. Because, I mean, what else do you need?

I feel a bit like a toddler with my new kantha—I'm constantly asking 'where is my blanket' and moving it with me from room to room. I love it so much!
I wrap up in it on the couch, I use it on my bed on chilly nights and I drape it over chairs to bring some colour and pattern into my room. It is fantastic.
If you're thinking of getting one DO IT. Don't wait any longer!!
