This kantha is among the most substantial pieces we carry. Stitched slowly by hand in the traditional style of northern Bengal, it has a depth, weight, and presence that changes the feel of the bed entirely.
Made from layers of repurposed sari, the dense stitching and rich variation in color and pattern give it a sense of movement and character that can’t be replicated. No two are ever alike.
Designed to fit a twin or full bed, it offers a relaxed drape with shorter drop along the sides. On larger beds, it layers beautifully across the foot.
Handcrafted by a woman in rural Bangladesh, she works for several hours each day and completes a piece like this over the course of about two months. This kind of work allows her to stay in her home community while earning steady income through her skill.
Some things take time to make well. This is one of them.

Care
Like our classic kantha throws, special kantha are 100% cotton and will not warp or distort from heat. However, the nature of the stitching is more delicate; handle with care.
If you would like to wash your blanket in a machine, use a protective bag or cover if possible. Do not wash in a top-loading machine.
To extend the life of your kantha we recommend: limit full washing, and hang dry or tumble on low.
