Kantha Bedding | One-of-a-Kind Quilts & Coverlets

A piece you’ll reach for every day.

Our kantha bedding is stitched slowly by hand in Bangladesh, using both repurposed sari and layered cotton. From one-of-a-kind pieces rich with color and history, to our Indigo and Simplicity bedding in softer, more neutral tones, each piece carries the mark of the hand that made it.

You’ll find a range of sizes here, from Twin/Full coverlets to Queen and King pieces with a fuller drape. Some are best suited for full coverage, others for layering at the foot of the bed. Each product includes guidance on how it’s best used.

Each piece is handmade by a woman in Bangladesh earning income through her skill—work that supports stability, dignity and new possibility.

So you can choose with confidence

What is kantha bedding?

Kantha bedding is made by layering fabric—often repurposed sari—and stitching it together by hand using a traditional running stitch from the Bengal region.

Each quilt is soft, textured, and full of character. Each one carries subtle variation that reflects the hand of the woman who made it.

What size kantha coverlet should I choose?

It depends on the fit you're looking for.

Our Twin/Full pieces offer a relaxed drape on smaller beds or can be layered on larger ones, while Queen and King sizes provide fuller coverage with more overhang.

Because each quilt is one-of-a-kind and unique, you can look at the "Notes on this kantha" tab on each product page for guidance so you can choose the fit that feels right for your space.

How do I care for a kantha quilt?

We highly recommend spot cleaning or dry cleaning. If needed, you can machine wash on a cold, delicate cycle and tumble dry low. With regular use and gentle care, kantha softens beautifully over time.

Are all kantha quilts one-of-a-kind?

Many of our kantha pieces are one-of-a-kind, especially those made from repurposed sari. Others, like our indigo and simplicity bedding, follow a more consistent design while still being hand-stitched and naturally varied. Every piece carries the character of being made by hand.

Who makes your kanthas?

Our kanthas are stitched by women in Bangladesh, both in workshop settings and from their homes, depending on the piece.

We partner with artisan groups who provide work that is fairly paid, steady and honors the value of each woman’s skill. For many, it creates the opportunity to remain in her community while building something more stable for herself and her family.

What if it’s not quite right?

We offer a 30-day return window, so you can order with confidence.

That said, our customers tend to fall in love with their kanthas — they become the thing you reach for again and again. If you'd like help choosing the right size or color before ordering, just email us at hello@shopdignify.com. We're happy to help.
